Jack and HItler In the novel, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, a group of kids were on an airplane and they crashed onto a disserted Island. One kid had all the power and his name was jack. Jack was a dictator like Hitler. They both stole their power, manipulated citizens, and put the blame on others to take the attention off of themselves. Jack and Hitler steal power from others to gain control. Golding writes,” I gave you food,” and my hunters will protect you from the beast…”(2). This shows that jack is just feeding everybody so he could have power. Ralph used to be in power until Jack started using food to control the boys. This allows Jack to take away Ralphs power. In addition,” Hitler borrowed money and he gained popularity for gaining more power and was taking control.” Took control away from the people. Both of them controlled their people by taking power that was not theirs. Jack and Hitler manipulated others. Golding writes,” I painted my face. I stole up. Now you eat- all of you!” (2). After the ship left and the fire went out, Jack used the food to control the boys. Eating distracted them from the fact that Jack let the fire go out and they didn’t get rescued. “Hitler has manipulated people by propaganda and brainwashing them to gain more power. (2.)” This use of propaganda strengthened Hitler’s messaged and he gained more followers. Jack and Hitler tried to get inside their minds or head. Jack and Hitler blamed their people for problems they, themselves, caused. Golding writes,” This made the followers choose jack because he had blamed Ralph for being a bad leader. “Hitler and the Nazis saw that Jews, Gypsies, and the handicapped as a serious biological threat to the purity of the Germans” (My Jews learning). Hitler disagreed with the and thought they were going to fight against him. He blamed Propaganda that unfairly blamed Jews for Germany’s economic depression and the country’s defeat in WW1.” I painted my face. I stole up, now you eat all of you.” Both leaders didn’t want their flaws to be pointed out, so they blamed others for their own facts. Jack and Hitler both stole their power, manipulated citizens, and put the blame on others to take the attention off of themselves. They both could have been thinking about others instead of themselves because they were selfish and careless. Works Cited 1. "Comparing Hitler and Stalin In Their Rise To Power." Novelguide. A Depressing Tournament

Jesus Contreras Mrs. Twenge 2/3 3/11/16 A Depressing Tournament One summer morning, I had a basketball tournament for at Arroyo Grande. I was wearing sweats, a white T-shirt, and a Nike sweater. It was a cold morning that day and we were heading to A.G in white vans. Some of my teammates were sleeping and some of them were listening to music because it was at 8 or 9 in the morning. Once we got to A.G, we headed to the gym and we were looking around to see who we were playing against. It was San Luis Obispo and then Atascadero. We won both games. They were pretty tough games because both games were back to back scoring, but we managed to get both wins. The next day, on a Saturday, we had another two games because it was a two day tournament. This time we were playing A.G and some team that was called West Coast. The First game was a stressful because we kept on doing turnovers and playing bad defense until the second or third quarter. When the third quarter started, we came out strong. We were on fire! Shooting none-stop three pointers and playing tremendous defense. However, at the end we still lost by 1 or 3 points. We shook their hands and grabbed our stuff and went to the bleachers to wait for our next game. Their game had started. We were stretching and warming up to play against West Coast. When the game started, we were actually playing pretty good in the first half. During the second half, we were doing well until they tied up against us. One specific play went wrong and time was running out. My teammate shot and it missed. I was running down the right lane until I jumped off my right leg to grab the ball on my left. I was going to do a dunk/put back on some short kid which he fell and the crowd was jumping and screaming. Even the A.G kids were amazed, especially my teammates and coach. It wasn’t over yet. We had three minutes left and in those three minutes we won the game by twenty points. We went home after because our coaches dropped us off at our house. Then the day passed. It was a Sunday morning when I got a news that one of my friends died in a car crash. Which I didn’t believe because I barely had a game with him in A.G. He was actually one of the players that made us go 3-1 in the tournament. He was one of the brightest kids because he was not just a great teammate but a great friend and family member. Also it doesn’t matter if your blood or not because “The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other’s life- Richard Bach

Reflection

Something that I knew or learned before this unit was that China had a big population and they would make products for people to use or wear. Also, what I think is that teenagers had too work just to keep a roof over their heads and to learn English. What I think now about China is that many people enjoyed visiting China because when they hosted the 2008 Olympics. Many people from different countries participate. Lastly yes , I would visit China because I would like to see how they do their traditions when a festival goes on.
What I think about prezi is that it looks interesting but might take long to do. And I would definitely try it in the future. When I was doing it in the powerpoint it was easy because I have been doing it for awhile. But, it was actually much easier because it already sorts it out for you. Easybib worked pretty well I think. Lastly, I think that I could have added more details and more pictures for the powerpoint.
